As the season draws to a close, champions Liverpool have a lot to look forward to. After hosting Crystal Palace at Anfield on May 25, the Reds will hoist the Premier League trophy. The next day, they will parade the trophies across Merseyside.

However, as the Reds aim to maintain their position at the top of English football for some time to come, Arne Slot and his backroom staff are looking beyond that. Liverpool is attempting to finalize the acquisition of Jeremie Frimpong from Bayer Leverkusen and is also in talks for Florian Wirtz, a teammate of Frimpong.

From a Liverpool perspective, this week appears to have gradually evolved into one of promising intrigue and intent. This has mostly come from extensive rumors that the Reds are interested in signing Florian Wirtz and Jeremie Frimpong from Bayer Leverkusen.

It seems that the hunt for Frimpong is a reaction to Trent Alexander-Arnold’supcomingdeparture. Although the 24-year-old has a very different profile than the No.66, this potential move has several advantages due to his speed, versatility (he can play right wing-back or attacking midfield), €35 million release clause, and homegrown status (he spent nine years at Manchester City’s academy). At the same time, concerns about his suitability might suggest that Arne Slot and company want to change and broaden our strategy.

It appears that Wirtz is still evaluating possible suitors. The 22-year-old German playmaker is still closely associated with Manchester City and Bayern Munich and is one of the most sought-after football players in Europe. Even though his price would probably be over £100 million and it seems like he might prefer to stay in Germany, his combination of steady inventiveness, explosive ball-striking, and intensity both in and out of possession make him a potentially excellent short- and long-term addition. The club’s proactive efforts to build on this season’s achievements and look to the future are encouraging.
