With the confirmation of Ben Doak’s sale to Bournemouth, Liverpool is getting closer to a major transfer milestone.

Liverpool near significant financial landmark as Doak sale to Bournemouth confirmed

Ben Doak, a Scottish winger, has officially joined Bournemouth from Liverpool in a reported £25 million deal.

After a lackluster three years at Anfield, where he played just ten games for the senior squad and did not score or assist, the 19-year-old finally makes it to the Vitality Stadium.

Doak joined the Reds from Celtic in 2022 at the age of 16, but players like Federico Chiesa, Harvey Elliott, and Mohamed Salah stood in his way of making the first squad.

Despite this, the 2005-born winger had a successful loan stint with Middlesbrough last season, scoring three goals and dishing out seven assists in 24 games as Michael Carrick’s team narrowly missed out on a postseason berth.

The Cherries have now confirmed the arrival of Doak, who will wear the number 11 shirt and could make his debut against Wolverhampton Wanderers this weekend, following rumors that a £25 million deal between Liverpool and Bournemouth was in the works.

Doak said on the official Bournemouth website, “I’m excited to be here.” “I think this is the ideal moment for me and a fantastic chance to play regular football at the greatest level. It seems to fit perfectly.

“The team plays football really well. I felt that I couldn’t turn down the opportunity to play here because it’s quick and perfectly fits my style.

“Ben is an exciting young talent who has shown his quality at the highest level despite his age,” read Tiago Pinto, Head of Football Operations at Bournemouth, who also praised Doak as a player who could make a significant impact.

“We’re really excited to work with him because he brings energy and pace that will work well with our model and we’re thoroughly looking forward to helping him fulfil his potential at AFC Bournemouth. We’re pleased to bring another player into the club during this window as we continue to reinvest in the squad.”

Luis Sinisterra is rumored to be in negotiations to join Brazilian team Cruzeiro on loan, while Doak arrives on the South Coast soon after Dango Ouattara was sold to Brentford for £42.5 million.

Doak is the eighth player to leave for a fee, and Liverpool’s finances have increased by an incredible £190 million as a result of player sales this summer.

Jarell Quansah (£30 million), Luis Diaz (£60 million), Tyler Morton (£10 million), Darwin Nunez (£46 million), and Doak (£20 million to £25 million) have all been sold since the beginning of July. Before that, Caoimhin Kelleher, Trent Alexander-Arnold, and Nat Phillips also contributed some cash.

Although Doak’s fellow attacker Elliott may still look for a new club before the transfer deadline, Liverpool could reach that significant financial mark with just one more summer sale. Add-ons will almost certainly push that total over the £200 million mark.

It’s unclear if some of those funds will be used to acquire an Alexander Isak, but the Reds’ pursuit of Real Madrid’s Rodrygo appears to have gained momentum after one of their Premier League rivals withdrew from the race.
