Transfer rumors for Barcelona: Hansi Flick plans to axe “four players” from the team this summer

According to reports, Barcelona manager Hansi Flick has made the decision to fire four players this summer, including forward Ansu Fati.

Flick had a great first season as Barcelona’s manager, leading the team to the Spanish Super Cup, Copa del Rey, and league championship.

Ahead of his second season in charge, the 60-year-old is not in the mood to take it easy, particularly since Barcelona will be nervous about the intense competition from a revamped Real Madrid team led by Xabi Alonso.

Barcelona wants to bolster their team, but they are also eager to let go of players that Flick has determined are unnecessary.

Fichajes claims that Flick has communicated his desire to let go of Ansu Fati, Inaki Pena, Oriol Romeu, and Pablo Torre to the Barcelona hierarchy.

It appears that the Barcelona manager wants to let go of the quartet in order to increase wages and make room in the team for future additions.

After being limited to just 11 appearances under Flick last season, Fati has been strongly linked to a move to Monaco.

However, because of the player’s high salary, talks to join the Ligue 1 team have stalled.

Given that Fati is regarded as one of Barcelona’s highest paid players, his possible departure could be crucial to the team’s ability to sign new players this summer.

Joan Garcia recently joined from Espanyol, making Inaki Pena the team’s fourth-choice goalie.

Garcia will take over as the team’s new number one, and after he signs his new contract, Wojciech Szczesny should be his deputy.

Although Marc-Andre ter Stegen’s departure is still up in the air, Pena is most likely to go in order to get regular playing time elsewhere.

Oriol Romeu, who was loaned to Girona for the previous season, is also searching for a new home with the team.

Nevertheless, Barcelona has not yet received any offers for a player whose contract is about to expire.

Villarreal is reportedly the top bidder for Torre’s services, and he may depart on loan for the 2025–2026 campaign.
