Thomas Frank to Tottenham Hotspur: The “staggering” price Spurs must pay Brentford for the heir of Ange Postecoglou

Spurs learn 'staggering' price they must pay to take Frank from Brentford

According to recent reports, Tottenham Hotspur must be willing to spend more than £10 million to entice Thomas Frank to leave Brentford.

After Ange Postecoglou was fired as Spurs manager on Friday, supporters are wondering who might succeed the Australian.

Although Tottenham would need to offer a sizable compensation package to recruit him from the US men’s national team, former manager Mauricio Pochettino has been linked to the open managerial position.

But it appears that the team has decided that Thomas Frank, the manager of Brentford, is their top choice to succeed him this summer.

According to The Mirror, because of the release clause in the contract he signed in 2022, Spurs would need to pay the Bees over £10 million to bring Frank to the team.

Postecoglou was criticized by commentators like Jamie Carragher for his apparent reluctance to change his style of play, which caused problems at the back when his preferred starting lineup was unavailable.

When striker Ivan Toney isn’t available, players like Bryan Mbeumo and Yoane Wissa excel in attack, demonstrating Frank’s ability to modify his style of play to fit the players at his disposal.

When evaluating whether the Brentford manager can adjust at Tottenham, the fact that he was able to maximize the two players’ output—they scored 20 and 19 Premier League goals, respectively, in 2024–25—is encouraging.

With the Dane enhancing the performances of celebrities like Mikkel Damsgaard, Nathan Collins, and Kevin Schade, Frank has demonstrated his ability to nurture young talent.

It should be mentioned that the 51-year-old has no problem asking his team to defend in deeper blocks to keep the lead, and Spurs may be able to move up the table with his willingness to be practical.

Frank has also never had the good fortune to receive sizable transfer budgets while serving as Brentford’s head coach, so maybe having access to more money with Tottenham would help him.
