“One of the club’s greatest legends,” who won 23 trophies at the Bernabeu, is leaving Real Madrid.

Lucas Vazquez, who has been with Real Madrid for a long time, is leaving the team, and his farewell ceremony is scheduled for Thursday.

Following his 2007 entry into Real Madrid’s youth system, Vazquez advanced from Real Madrid C and Real Madrid B to the first team before making his senior debut in 2015.

Despite spending the 2014–15 season on loan at Espanyol, the 34-year-old has played 402 games for Real Madrid, where he has scored 38 goals and provided 73 assists.

Vazquez has won 23 major trophies at the Bernabeu, including four La Liga trophies and five Champions League titles. However, it has now been confirmed that he will be leaving on a free transfer.

A statement on Real Madrid’s official website stated, “Real Madrid CF announces that tomorrow, Thursday, July 17, at 1:00 p.m., an institutional tribute and farewell ceremony for our player Lucas Vazquez will take place at Real Madrid City, with the presence of our president, Florentino Pérez.”

“Real Madrid would like to thank and show its love for one of our club’s greatest legends, Lucas Vazquez.”

In a statement, Real Madrid president Florentino Perez said: “Lucas Vazquez is one of our fans’ favorite players because he exemplifies the values of Real Madrid.”

“Lucas Vazquez symbolizes the hard work, perseverance, humility, and winning spirit essential to succeed in this shirt. He is a player who earns the affection and recognition of all Real Madrid fans. Real Madrid is and always will be his home.”

In a social media statement, Vazquez claimed that Real Madrid “will never leave him.”

“Real Madrid will never abandon me, even though I’m leaving them. I will proudly state wherever I go that I had the privilege of playing for the world’s top team. “I am grateful that you have accompanied me on the most exquisite adventure of my life,” the Spaniard said.

After Jesus Vallejo joined Albacete and Luka Modric moved to AC Milan, Vazquez is the third Real Madrid player to depart on a free transfer this summer.

The Spaniard has no intention of retiring, and it is believed that he may continue playing in La Liga, but several European teams are also anticipated to make offers to him.
