Napoli is reportedly considering a move for Darwin Nunez, but Liverpool has not yet been contacted about the striker.
Nunez has only started one Premier League match in 2025, and that came in March when he scored and won a penalty in a 3-1 victory over Southampton. Since then, there has been conjecture about Nunez’s future.
Because head coach Arne Slot wanted to keep his team intact before a run for the Premier League title in the second half of the season, Liverpool rejected an approach from Saudi Pro League clubs in January.
The Reds eventually won their 20th title by a margin of 10 points, so that choice paid off handsomely. However, Nunez’s long-term future is still uncertain because of his lack of starts in the top flight under Slot.
According to Italian reports, Napoli is planning to speak with Nunez’s representatives before attempting to approach Liverpool, who might be willing to let go of the Uruguayan international at a reasonable price.
However, Nunez is currently on an end-of-season vacation, so no direct communication has been established with Anfield executives as of yet.
Back in January, AC Milan showed interest in the Reds’ No. 9, as then-head coach Sergio Conceicao was a big fan.
But at the end of the season, the Portuguese manager was relieved of his responsibilities, and it’s unclear how much interest San Siro still has in him now.
Nunez scored 18 goals in the 23–24 season, adding to the 15 he scored in his debut season on Merseyside after joining from Benfica in 2022, which was initially valued at £64 million, potentially setting a club record of £85 million.
But last time out, under Slot, the Uruguayan international only managed seven goals across all competitions.
