With the Manchester United forward reportedly on the verge of leaving, Marcus Rashford’s future looks to be taking a different turn ahead of the 2025–26 campaign. The England international doesn’t seem to be in the club’s plans anymore after Matheus Cunha, who even inherited Rashford’s number 10 shirt, arrived.
As part of their summer rebuild, Fenerbahce, currently led by Jose Mourinho, is reportedly eager to make a high-profile move for Rashford. According to The Telegraph, the Istanbul team, who haven’t won the Turkish Super Lig since 2014, is hoping to make a splash in the market and is reportedly prepared to pay United’s asking price of £40 million.
If a deal were to go through, Rashford would surpass the €20 million Sevilla paid for Youssef En-Nesyri in 2024 as the most expensive signing in Fenerbahce’s history.
But Fenerbahce’s summertime activities don’t end with Rashford. A Bola claims that the team is also interested in Tottenham midfielder Yves Bissouma and Aston Villa winger Leon Bailey, while agreements have already been reached for Archie Brown from Gent and Jhon Duran on loan from Al Nassr.
According to reports, Aston Villa and Fenerbahce have started talking about Bailey; however, Tottenham’s £20 million asking price for Bissouma may prove to be a roadblock.
Rashford would be reunited with Jose Mourinho, who coached him at Manchester United from 2016 to 2019, if he were to move to Fenerbahce. Under Mourinho, Rashford made 125 appearances, starting 69 of them and contributing 20 assists and 28 goals.
Although Rashford’s physical attributes were once praised by Mourinho, there was tension in their relationship. According to Daily Mail sources, Mourinho reportedly questioned Rashford’s self-perception in 2018 after a reported argument with Paul Pogba, saying that the forward “isn’t as important as he thinks he is.”
Rashford later said that it was “difficult to play my best football” under the Portuguese manager after Mourinho left Old Trafford.
Barcelona among clubs monitoring Rashford
There are other teams keeping an eye on Rashford’s condition besides Fenerbahce. The 27-year-old would reportedly be open to moving to Barcelona, where he would be able to line up with rising star Lamine Yamal, according to The Telegraph.
Nico Williams recently inked a new, long-term contract with Athletic Bilbao, and the Catalan team is now looking for a winger. Luis Diaz of Liverpool has also been linked to Barcelona.
The Blaugrana may prefer a loan agreement over a permanent transfer given the club’s financial limitation, according to reports that Rashford’s representatives have contacted them.
In other news, Tottenham is rumored to be looking to add players to Rashford’s position, and Newcastle, who lost out on Joao Pedro to Chelsea, may also be interested. Additionally, Bayern Munich has surfaced as a possible suitor; according to Bild, the Bundesliga powerhouses are thinking about making a move for the Manchester United forward.
