Manchester United transfer update: following his dismissal, Ruben Amorim will “fight” with Premier League rival for Bryan Mbeumo

United face 'fight' to sign Mbeumo after Premier League rival makes sack decision

Matheus Cunha from Wolverhampton Wanderers has already been signed by the Red Devils to join them at Old Trafford this summer.

Cunha will be a part of the summer rebuild, which is anticipated to see the departure of several stars, including Marcus Rashford and Antony, and the arrival of replacements.

According to reports, Mbeumo, an attacker for Brentford, has decided that United is his top choice, and the two teams are negotiating his transfer.

However, since Ange Postecoglou was fired on Friday, Thomas Frank, Mbeumo’s current manager, has been mentioned in relation to the open managerial post at Tottenham.

According to the Mirror, Frank has already told Spurs that he wants to sabotage United’s bid for the Bees forward, endangering Ruben Amorim’s plans.

Spurs finished the Premier League season in 17th place, two spots behind United. However, they will play in the Champions League next season after defeating Amorim’s team in the Europa League final.

Although the Red Devils are unable to provide Mbeumo with any form of European football, it’s possible that the forward does not view continental football as being of the utmost importance, considering that he has reportedly already rejected Newcastle United.

The 25-year-old could compete for a spot on Spurs’ team with Brennan Johnson on the right, but he would also fit in well stylistically with Amorim’s 3-4-3 system.

It should be mentioned that Frank has demonstrated his ability to modify attacking schemes in order to maximize the potential of the forwards available to him. Mbeumo benefited from this in 2024–25, scoring 20 Premier League goals in spite of Ivan Toney’s departure in the summer of 2024.

It wouldn’t be shocking if Frank could place him and Johnson in the same starting lineup if the forward decided to move to London.
