Ekitike transfer 'timeline' revealed as Liverpool agree deal with 'sold' striker

Hugo Ekitike of Eintracht Frankfurt gave his approval to personal terms with Liverpool, according to a report, and the two teams may reach an agreement on a deal for the striker within the next few days.

Ekitike and Magpies center-forward Alexander Isak have been involved in an intriguing transfer saga involving Liverpool, Frankfurt, and Newcastle United over the last 24 hours.

While Eddie Howe’s team was attempting to reach an agreement for Ekitike at the same time and failed with an initial offer of £70 million, the Premier League champions reportedly approached Newcastle to discuss a possible deal for Isak.

But Liverpool also indicated that they would be interested in making a deal for the latter should they pursue Isak, who would fetch a Premier League record.

According to journalist Ben Jacobs (via GIVEMESPORT), Ekitike has approved a six-year contract at Anfield, so it looks like the Reds have put all their eggs in one basket.

According to reports, the English champions also made a verbal offer of around £70 million for the former Paris Saint-Germain striker, but Frankfurt rejected it after initially putting a £85 million price tag on him.

But according to the report, if Liverpool and Frankfurt can agree on a favorable payment plan for the striker, a deal could be possible in the £75–£80 million range instead.

In any case, it is believed that negotiations between the two clubs are already advanced, and since Ekitike is “sold” on the move, it is not impossible to envision a transfer fee being agreed upon in the “next few days.”

Ekitike could join Florian Wirtz, Milos Kerkez, Jeremie Frimpong, Giorgi Mamardashvili, Armin Pecsi, and Freddie Woodman as Liverpool’s seventh summer addition if everything goes according to plan.

Ekitike, 23, has found his calling at Frankfurt, where he has contributed 40 goals in 64 appearances across all competitions. The less said about his lackluster stint at Paris Saint-Germain, the better.

Ekitike has contributed 14 assists and 26 goals for Die Adler, including four goals in the Europa League and 15 goals and eight assists during the 2024–25 Bundesliga season.

Ekitike, who is 6′ 3″, has been compared to Arsenal great and personal icon Thierry Henry in his style of play, drifting infield from the wide areas to get shots away.

The striker, who was born in 2002, has averaged 3.04 progressive carries and 3.5 shot-creating actions per game in the Bundesliga over the last 365 days, but there are concerns about his Expected Goals (xG) underperformance.

The 2024–25 Bundesliga season saw Ekitike score 15 goals from an xG total of 21.6, but the Frenchman is still very good at creating and taking chances.
