Forest affirms emergency surgery of Taiwo Awoniyi

According to Nottingham Forest, forward Taiwo Awoniyi had emergency surgery after suffering an abdominal injury during the match against Leicester.

According to Sky Sports News, Taiwo Awoniyi, a striker for Nottingham Forest, was taken to the hospital earlier Monday for emergency surgery due to an abdominal injury.

After hitting the post during Sunday’s 2-2 home draw with Leicester, he sustained the injury. However, following additional medical examinations at the club on Monday, it was determined that he required immediate surgery, and Forest’s staff immediately transported him to the hospital.

The injury sparked a furious outburst from Forest’s owner, Evangelos Marinakis, who took to the field at full time to demand explanations for why Awoniyi was left on the field while other players were replaced.

Following the draw, Forest’s head coach Nuno Espirito Santo stated that there had been a misunderstanding between the bench and the team’s medical personnel.

The Nigerian international is currently recuperating in the hospital after undergoing surgery on Monday night.

Sian Massey-Ellis’ flag remained down until the move was finished, but Anthony Elanga played the pass to Awoniyi prior to the injury after veering offside.

She is seen elucidating to the goalie. “He’s not far enough offside,” former referee Dermot Gallagher stated on Sky Sports’ Ref Watch. “It’s a directive, not the law.”

“The assistants are instructed not to raise their flags too soon because we have VAR; if he puts it in the net, you can go back and check.”
