Palace 'identify' Premier League attacker as potential Eze replacement

According to reports, Crystal Palace has identified an attacker from Wolverhampton Wanderers as a possible Eberechi Eze replacement.

The England international, who scored the game-winning goal in the Eagles’ victory over Manchester City in the FA Cup final in May, has been the team’s clear star for the past 12 months.

Though Tottenham Hotspur and Arsenal appear to be the current front-runners, the playmaker has been regularly linked to a move away from Selhurst Park, which is somewhat inevitable.

While Arsenal have been heavily linked with the 27-year-old for the majority of the summer, Spurs are now said to be favourites to sign Eze at some point during the next two weeks.

As a result, Palace need to assess their options in the transfer market, Oliver Glasner having already been left frustrated by a lack of additions.

Wolverhampton Wanderers forward Hwang Hee-chan in August 2024.

If Eze leaves the team, Palace is interested in negotiating a deal for Hwang Hee-Chan, according to The Sun.

There are still three years left on the South Korea international’s contract, but Wolves are reportedly open to offers for the 29-year-old.

And because Hwang only scored twice in 21 Premier League games in 2024–25, head coach Vitor Pereira only considers him a backup.

Based on the rumor that Wolves would demand a purchase commitment, Palace is reportedly thinking about trying to sign Hwang on a season-long loan.

According to reports earlier this month, Hwang would rather compete for a spot at Wolves, a team with which he has contributed 24 goals and eight assists from 120 appearances in all competitions.

However, he might change his mind if Palace were to qualify for the Conference League’s League Phase.

Even though Palace supporters would probably be disappointed if Hwang were considered as an Eze substitute, it would guarantee that there would be a sizable amount of money left over to give the team much-needed depth.

Glasner will contend that if Palace adds European football to the schedule, he needs to sign an additional four or five players.

Additionally, he must deal with the potential sale of captain and star center-back Marc Guehi prior to the September 1 deadline.
