Bruno Fernandes, the captain of Manchester United, expressed his displeasure with his team after Sunday’s 2-2 Premier League draw with Liverpool.

The Red Devils played hard at Anfield, taking a 1-0 lead before having to rally from a 2-1 deficit to defeat the division leaders and earn a share of the spoils.

Man United’s performance was arguably their best since Ruben Amorim took over as head coach, and Amad Diallo’s goal in the 80th minute was sufficient to earn them a point.

At Anfield, Man United earned a point.
“We have received fair criticism. We have lost too many points, as our position in the table makes clear. We still can’t be content with a point. Even though we could have won the game in the end and we need the points, the outcome is fair. Both sides had strong football performances,” Fernandes said to Sky Sports News.

“I’m quite agitated. Why can’t we perform at this level everywhere if we can do it at Liverpool, the league’s top team? It irritates me. In addition, I performed properly at last. We stated that in order to get more out of this season, we must demand much more of ourselves.

“Scoring after falling behind 2-1 getting a point is good, but we need more. We want to make it to the final once more, but our FA Cup match against Arsenal is going to be extremely difficult.

“We are aware of how difficult playing Liverpool is. We really worked hard on the game today; the only way to get anything out of it is to play with heart and passion. You must work hard, which is why we took something away from today.

“We must carry this frustration into the next game in order to realize that this must be the level. It cannot end here. We must do it everywhere if we can do it at Anfield.

What is next for Man United?

With the draw at Liverpool, Man United moved up one spot to 13th place in the Premier League standings, one point behind Tottenham Hotspur, who are currently in 12th place.

Prior to playing Southampton and Brighton & Hove Albion at home in the Premier League on January 16 and 19, respectively, the 20-time English champions will return to action next weekend against Arsenal in the FA Cup third round.
