A transfer boost is given to Liverpool while Crystal Palace looks for a “replacement” for Marc Guehi.

If Marc Guehi joins Liverpool this summer, Crystal Palace is reportedly thinking about making a move for Rennes talent Jeremy Jacquet.

Although the Premier League winners have been strongly linked to Guehi, the Reds have not yet made a formal offer.

The Eagles captain was reportedly approached by Manchester United to sign him, but it seems that their interest has waned in recent weeks.

For a total of £26 million plus add-ons, the Reds acquired Giovanni Leoni from Parma, an Italian team, to strengthen their defense, but Arne Slot still requires more depth at the back.

The team’s two first-choice defenders are still Virgil van Dijk and Ibrahima Konate, with Joe Gomez and Leoni as backups.

Given Gomez’s recent injury issues and Leoni’s lack of experience, the situation is far from ideal and suggests that Slot needs one stronger and more dependable central defender at the back.

At Selhurst Park, Guehi is in his last year, and Palace is prepared to let him go. A report from the Independent claims that the two clubs’ respective valuations still differ by £10 million.

The Eagles are demanding £45 million, while the Reds are refusing to pay more than £35 million given his contract status. Given that Jacquet would cost approximately £35 million and that the situation has become complex, the transfer fee is essential in this case.

Van Dijk is still going strong at the age of 34 and appears to be playing at his best right now.

Konate has been linked to a move to Real Madrid, but there are still questions surrounding him. The Reds need another seasoned center-back, even if the Frenchman stays, to replace Jarell Quansah, who left the team to sign with Bayer Leverkusen.

Guehi is a powerful weapon for both his club and his nation because of his tactical adaptability to play across the back line. Although Oliver Glasner mostly uses him as a left center-back in a back three at Palace, he has demonstrated remarkable versatility in a four-man defense while representing England.

Additionally, he has demonstrated exceptional skill in passing and moving the ball forward from the back, making him a valuable addition to teams that are prepared for either counterattacking or high-pressing football.

Guehi is a great fit for Liverpool given his age, contract status, skill, and ability to switch between systems with ease.
