Following Manchester City’s FA Cup final loss, Kevin De Bruyne provides an update on his future as the midfielder discusses his next club.

'I'm speaking to clubs': De Bruyne gives answer on which teams he could join

Kevin De Bruyne, has maintained that he may be able to stay in the Premier League after his contract expires.

The 33-year-old Belgian playmaker missed out on winning a trophy in his final season at the Etihad after being a member of the City team that lost 1-0 to Crystal Palace in the FA Cup final on Saturday afternoon.

After ten seasons in Manchester, De Bruyne’s contract is set to expire in the summer, and the club has announced that they will not be renewing it.

Even though he is considered a City legend, the attacker told Sky Sports following the FA Cup final that he would not be against joining another Premier League team: “Yes, I am talking to clubs about my future. No matter what, I want to play good football.

Will you remain in England? Who shows up will determine it. I have to make a decision that works for everyone because I have a family and children. The choice is difficult.

Given that he may have expressed a desire to join a direct rival, which would have been unthinkable given his years of service to the team, De Bruyne’s remarks will worry City supporters.

Liverpool has been linked to De Bruyne’s signing; according to winger Mohamed Salah, the Reds “have a space for him” in their roster.

Naturally, the City attacking midfielder would be on the team’s radar given that the champions are reportedly searching for offensive reinforcements, with Florian Wirtz of Bayer Leverkusen reportedly being of interest.

Additionally, it should be mentioned that Liverpool will be losing Trent Alexander-Arnold for nothing in the summer. Given that De Bruyne is possibly the only player in the Premier League with the same level of creativity as the right-back, it might make sense to bring the Belgian to Anfield.

De Bruyne has demonstrated that he is still able to influence play in the final third of the Premier League, even though he has only started 18 games this season.

The 33-year-old has only fallen behind Arsenal’s Bukayo Saka in terms of expected assists per 90 (0.36) among all players in the top flight.

After suffering severe muscle injuries in recent years, the Belgian’s mobility has somewhat decreased, but his skill in possession is undeniable, and he would still improve most teams in the world of football.
