Leandro Trossard, a winger for Arsenal, is said to have agreed to a new contract with the team.
Due to his apparent decline in Mikel Arteta’s squad hierarchy, Trossard has been linked to a move away during the summer transfer window.
Trossard now has to contend with Gabriel Martinelli and the former Chelsea player for a left-wing spot after Noni Madueke was signed.
In Arsenal’s victory over Manchester United on the first day, Madueke and Martinelli both played well, but Trossard was benched as an unutilized substitute.
Additionally, it has been suggested that Arsenal might try to sign another winger, which would only hurt Trossard’s standing in the team.
Nevertheless, despite his possible worries about his playing time, Trossard has agreed to a new contract with Arsenal, according to The Athletic.
However, the Belgian will not actually extend his contract past its current expiration date; instead, he will receive a “significant pay rise” on his current terms.
When Trossard’s new contract is announced, he will still be in the last two years of his current one with Arsenal.
Additionally, according to the report, there have been “no significant developments” about a potential move away prior to the transfer deadline.
Trossard’s new salary increase implies that he will remain with the team for at least another season, even though he may not have extended his contract.
Therefore, unless Arsenal is prepared to take the chance of upsetting their current options, who would see a reduction in playing time with a new arrival, it is hard to understand why they would sign another left winger.
In light of this, if the Gunners choose to enter the transfer market within the next two weeks, they might concentrate on other areas of Mikel Arteta’s team.
In the final third, they might be tempted to go after an attacking midfielder who can contribute a bit more originality.
