After Liverpool turned down Bayern’s first approaches and an offer estimated to be around £58.5 million (€67 million), the German champions have since made another offer of about £69 million (€80 million).
Diaz has made it clear that he wants to leave and join Bayern, but Liverpool has been reluctant to part with a vital first-team player throughout the summer. After that, Liverpool had little choice but to talk about a possible deal.
Diaz signed a five-and-a-half-year contract with Liverpool in January 2022, receiving a guaranteed payment of £37.5 million (€42.9 million).
Given that he is 28 years old and has two years left on his contract, Liverpool’s management is doing well.
Darwin Nunez missed out due to injury, but Liverpool manager Arne Slot has confirmed that Diaz was left out of the squad to play AC Milan because of rumors about his future.
After the 4-2 loss, Slot told LFC TV, “One of the positions that we didn’t have was a No 9.”
Hugo [Ekitike] was one of us, but he wasn’t yet prepared to play. Darwin was hurt. Lucho [Luis Diaz] was unable to perform as well.

With additional remarks, Slot restated this: “In Lucho’s case, it was, yeah [the reason why he was excluded].”
“I am unable to discuss the numerous rumors that have been circulating about him lately. Although he is training well with us, we have not yet decided to play him.
“I usually have regular conversations with the majority of my players. As previously stated, Lucho is training extremely hard, and we have decided that he will not be participating in the games at this time. I’m not able to say much more about that.
Liverpool’s approach indicates that they were prepared to pay a price that was at least comparable to what Newcastle is seeking, which is approximately £150 million.
Liverpool has already made over £60 million from player sales.
The four players they have let go this summer were either sold for large sums of money or were academy players, who are PSR’s definition of pure profit.
Then, just the three players—Diaz, Darwin Nunez, and Harvey Elliott—could raise an additional £150 million. Additionally, it might free up space in the forward line.
In addition to being a very well-run club, their net spend may start to appear fairly healthy when you take that into consideration.
